Portraits

Whether it’s a Senior, Family and Children or an Engagement Session, each are casual, relaxed and designed to be a reflection of you and your family.

Sessions typically take one-two hours and are taken at the location(s) of your choice.  My goal is to create natural portraits that represent who you really are–not with fake backgrounds, backdrops or goofy props.  Toddlers, young children and infants are normally more comfortable in their own home and personal surroundings which creates a more relaxed environment.

Portrait Collections begin at $250 with options that include your digital files.
Mini sessions also available.

About the Products
I offer a stunning collection of albums, wall prints, canvases, framing and custom pieces with a fine attention to detail.  I do not focus products on the old style ‘sheets’, but rather custom finished pieces, many of which are handmade.  Holiday and other specialty cards are just a sampling of the products available.  Products are purchased a la carte as you’re not committed to prints and products you may not need or want.  Each collection of products is custom created to your specific needs.

Custom designed albums are available for those images you choose not to frame, but want to display.  Custom albums are the perfect solution for your coffee-table art book.  Albums are available in several sizes using one of your favorite images as the cover, but also leather and fabric covers are available.

Portrait FAQS
how far in advance should i book my session
Sessions should be booked 2-4 weeks in advance.   I shoot one session per day Monday-Friday as weekends are reserved for weddings or personal time.  If your schedule makes weekday sessions difficult, just let me know and I’ll be happy to work out an arrangement for you.

what time of day do you normally schedule the session
The best time of day for a typical portrait session is during the ‘golden hour’ just prior to sunset.  For younger children and babies, the session may be scheduled earlier in the day or even early morning dependent on their own schedule.

where do you photograph the session
I’m happy to offer suggestions of my own favorite locations, but think about what your family likes to do together..go to the beach, picnic at the park, or simply bake cookies together at home.  Your location is important and is a reflection of your family and should be meaningful to you.

how many images do i receive
As each session is unique, so is the number of images you’ll view on your proof gallery.  The average number of proof images is 50.

what’s the difference between low res and high resolution images
Low resolution- the low res files are 4×6, proof-size images suitable for printing up to a 4×6 only.  Printing anything larger than this will result in a very low quality, pixelated print.  This size is also suitable for online sharing and social networking such as Facebook, too.

High resolution-the high res files gives you all of your images in the highest professional quality that can be printed in any size enlargement.

Each disc comes with a personal print release that allows you to print the images at a photo lab of your choice.  You may not however, sell, edit, advertise or use the images in any commercial format with no alteration of any image in any way.  I do ask that if you post any image online that you state fully that these photos were taken by Samantha Alday Photography.

what should we wear
Family/Children Portraits-Try to avoid loud prints, graphics or large hair bows that will take away from the people in the photo.  The key here is to not look uniform, but rather coordinate your outfits as if you were putting together one outfit.  Don’t worry so much about matching, but rather coordinating.  For individual photos, allow for outfit changes that reflect each person’s style.

Seniors-Most seniors bring about three outfits including something casual, something dressy, a uniform or something sassy.  Your clothing choices should represent your personality!

You’re more than welcome to bring an ensemble of selections along with accessories and I can help you choose which will work best for your photos

should we bring props
while I typically don’t use ‘artificial’ props, i love it when you bring along something that is significant to you.  Whether you play basketball, the guitar or even with your pet, a prop can add to the fun!

do you retouch blemishes
Minor blemish removal such as pimple removal is done with your final print and album choices.  More extensive retouching will require an additional processing fee.

can i post my images on Facebook
I will post a few of my favorites from your session on my own Facebook page where you will also be allowed to tag yourself and use any of those as your profile image. There must be no alteration of any image and the Samantha Alday Photography logo must remain on the image.

how long does it take to for my online gallery to be ready
The complete editing process takes 2-4 weeks and your gallery will remain online for two weeks.
