Frequently Asked Questions
what is your style of photography
My style is photo-journalistic. I want to capture the true moments and emotions of the day as they actually happen. Instead of being a part of every scene, I simply want to record the scene as it happens. Most images are taken without any intrusion or staging; our formal session time together is also relaxed and fun. Every wedding is unique and tells your own personal story-I want to photograph it as an observer, documenting your entire story.
what’s the difference in your coverage options
Basic Coverage-This Coverage is a basic photographic coverage of up to eight hours for a smaller, intimate ceremony with a small guest list (less than 150), a small wedding party (usually 2-4 attendants each) and the ceremony and reception at one location. This coverage usually covers about an hour of preparation time only.
Standard Coverage-The Standard Coverage includes up to nine hours of coverage and includes time for photographing up to two hours of preparation time, pre and post ceremony formals, ceremony and reception highlights. The Standard Coverage may include up to two locations dependent on travel between locations.
Full-Day-The Full-Day Coverage is up to ten hours and is for the larger wedding where you may have a full wedding party, a longer ceremony (greater than 30 minutes) and more than one location involved. The Full Day coverage usually includes everything from start to finish, such as bride and groom preparation time, pre and post ceremony formals, ceremony and full reception.
what style of custom albums do you offer
All albums are designed digitally. So, what does this mean to you? With the digitally designed album, the design possibilities are endless. You may like the coffee table style, contemporary look, or you may prefer a more traditionally designed album…I am happy to work with you to create that perfect album. The Art Book is more modern and artsy with a custom image cover. The Classic Album is just that is a larger, more traditionally-styled album and uses a leather or cloth cover. Each are amazing flush mount albums.
how many pictures will I receive
The number of images included with each coverage is totally dependent on which coverage you choose and other factors associated with your wedding. There is no minimum or maximum and as each wedding is unique, the number of photographs will vary from wedding to wedding.
what is your retainer fee to hold my date
My policy requires 50% of your total Coverage and a signed Photography Agreement for me to hold your date. Bookings are on a first come-first served basis only. I schedule one wedding per day and I cannot hold a date for you without a signed Wedding Agreement and Retainer.
what about taxes
A 4% AL sales tax may be added to wedding coverages and sales.
what are my payment options
Your remaining balance is due 30 days before your event, but your balance may also be divided into two equal payments for you with the final payment due 30 days prior to your event. You may pay by check, American Express, Visa/MC and Discover.
do you travel
Yes! 200 miles is included in the Standard and above coverages and 100 miles is included in the Basic Coverage. I travel often to photograph weddings all over the South and Gulf Coast. 200 miles covers north to Montgomery, Birmingham and Auburn, east to Dothan, south to Mobile and Baldwin Counties, southeast to Pensacola and San Destin, FL, southwest to New Orleans and west to Jackson, MS. We will travel to any destination to photograph your wedding. Call for more information on additional travel fees.
are the digital files a high resolution
Yes! Having your digital negatives means all of your photographs are in your hands to treasure, print, or share with friends and family.
will my proofs be watermarked or retouched
Your proofs are not watermarked, and will have basic color corrections. More extensive retouching is available and rates are by quote.
do you use a second photographer and/or assistant
Yes! My husband, Clark is my “handy” assistant to help me as I need. He’s also great a second shooter to grab shots that I may not see or be physically able to get. He often hangs out with the guys (as long as they are at the same location as the girls) to get photos of them getting dressed while I’m with the girls.
how far in advance do I need to secure my date
The sooner the better! Really, it’s not uncommon for me to book dates 8-18 months before the event. Also, to ensure the most in personalized service, commissions are limited so dates tend to book quickly.
what if I need more time on my wedding day
If I see we are running out of time for photographic coverage, I will quietly approach you to let you know. You will then have the option of continuing your coverage at the overtime rate with a 1 hour minimum.
do you take engagement sessions and bridal sessions
Yes, I do offer both sessions. The Engagement Session includes a Guest Signature Album (for your wedding guests to sign) and the Bridal Session also includes a 16×24 mounted enlargement ready to frame. Each includes online proofing.
what is the Complete Wedding Weekend Coverage
The Wedding Weekend Coverage is a complete customizable coverage to meet your specific photographic needs for the entire weekend. Additional albums may also be included. The Wedding Weekend Destinations is complete photographic coverage of your wedding anywhere in the world with full travel expenses included. This package is specifically customizable to meet all your photographic and album needs.
